Abstract

Introduction: World events such as epidemics and natural changes in behavior caused changes in people's behavior in different dimensions. Loss of family and friends, social isolation and the fear related to contagion emotionally affected the population. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the changes in the pattern of living in the face of social isolation and its impact on the development of stress and mental disorders in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: This is a systematic review that was developed using the databases of the PubMed and Scielo platforms, as well as the guidelines of the PRISMA protocol. Results: 28 articles were selected, of which 13 were excluded and 15 were eligible for full reading. Finally, 15 studies were selected for analysis in this study. The results of the scientific literature on anxiety, depression and stress reveal a significant increase in mental disorders in various parts of the world. Conclusion: It is important to continue evaluating the effects of this epidemic on people's mental health, so that its effects are avoided and minimized.
