Abstract

Introduction: Pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience, associated with present or potential damage. Among the various causes, the Myofascial Pain Syndrome (SDM) stands out, with a prevalence of up to 70% in pain clinic. For its evaluation in clinical practice, several questionnaires can be used. Today, there is still a limited understanding of the mechanisms that cause chronic pain. Thus, there is a need to evaluate its various parameters, through multiple clinical aspects, fatigue, functional impairment and quality of life in patients receiving medication. Objective: describe the aforementioned parameters in patients with SDM facing pharmacological treatment. Method: descriptive section of a model study before and after it is still in progress. Patients were included after clinical evaluation to confirm the diagnosis and to evaluate other diseases and / or conditions. There was no restriction on sex, age and associated comorbidities, except for oncological diseases. Those with systemic symptoms and / or signs were excluded. Drug intervention was performed with tricyclic antidepressants and assessment of various parameters through questionnaires. Results: Most of the patients found were female, with a mean age of 46 years, who presented chronic pain of a sensitive nature, associated with impaired quality of life, physical limitations, drop in vitality and functional capacity, mood changes, elevation of tiredness and fatigue with pain, mainly in the cervico-scapular region. Conclusion: Our results corroborate and add to the data in the literature regarding multidimensional changes in pain in its biopsychosocial character, however it is important to develop more comprehensive studies.
