Abstract

Intracranial aneurysms (IA) are dilatations on the walls of cranial arteries, developed by a defect in the middle tunic. The importance of IA is the possibility of rupture and subarachnoid hemorrhage, with high rates of morbidity and mortality. Treatment aims to prevent breakage or repair after breaking through surgical clipping or endovascular embolization. The survey assessed factors such as diameter, type, location, uniqueness/multiplicity of IA, age and sex of affected patients. Data were collected from angiographic reports prepared in the Hemodynamics sector of the Evangelical Hospital of Goiás between 2008 and 2012. About 170 sacular IA were found. It was observed a highlight at the uniqueness (one IA per patient) (70.2%) and female predominance (62.8%). The mean age was 52 years. The IA were more common in Previous Circulation (91.18%), mainly in the Internal Carotid Artery and Middle Cerebral Artery (60%), small IA (< 7mm) were more prevalent (57.6%). There was agreement with the literature on the evaluated parameters.
