PREVALÊNCIA DE SINTOMAS DE ANSIEDADE E DEPRESSÃO EM PACIENTES CARDIOPATAS ATENDIDOS EM UMA CLÍNICA-ESCOLA
Abstract
Objective: This study aims to estimate the prevalence of symptoms of depression and anxiety in patients with heart disease attended at a school-clinic in Salvador, Bahia. Methods: This is a cross-sectional descriptive study. Sampling was made by convinience, with individuals older than 18 years, with a previous diagnosis of heart disease. The tools of collection were the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and a sociodemographic questionnaire. Results: Among the 181 individuals studied, 33.70% had some degree of depression while 54.69% had symptoms of anxiety. There is also a relevant prevalence of both conditions in the same subject, corresponding to 16.57% of the sample. Conclusion: Cardiac patients had a high prevalence of anxiety and depression symptoms. Anxiety disorders were similar between sexes, but more prevalent in young people, students and single; While levels of depression were most significant in men over 50, retired and divorced.
