Abstract

Objective: Convergent strabismus as sign of intracranial hypertension in brain neoplasms. This paper has the aim of raising the incidence of injury Abducens Nerve (Cranial Nerve VI) in Brain Neoplasms and also a brief review of that cranial nerve anatomy. Method: We made a retrospective review of medical records of 150 patients with Brain Neoplasms operated between the years 2008 and 2018 in Polyclinic Pato Branco/PR, and a review of anatomical, about the cranial nerve studied, in the medical literature. Results: The study demonstrated the presence of the VI cranial nerve palsy in 8% of cases (12 patients). Conclusion: The knowledge of convergent strabismus, as a possible consequence of intracranial hypertension due to brain cancer, can aid in diagnosis or at least should point to a more detailed investigation.
