MULTIPLE SYSTEM ATROPHY AND HOT CROSS BUN SING: A CASE REPORT

Abstract


Introduction. Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) is a neurodegenerative disorder that presents with parkinsonism, cerebellar ataxia and dysautonomia. The hot cross bun sing  in MRI of head is a very distinctive of MSA. The aim of this study is report a case of MSA with hot cross bun sing on MRI and review the literature. Method. Chart review was performed; literature search was done and a systematic review about hot cross bun sing was done. Results. Patient, 47 years, started suffering with impaired speech; gait and balance disturbances. In the first consultation carried cranial MRI with the hot cross bun sing. Evolves with dysautonomic events, pyramidal sings and parkinsonism. It was done the diagnosis of MSA probable. Conclusions. The hot cross bun sing is very specific of MSA and help’s a lot to MSA diagnosis.
